Early Life
Tesher was born on September 19, 1995 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Career
Tesher grew up listening to Indian and western hip hop music.
With influence from his Canadian upbringing and Indian heritage, Tesher started to blend Bollywood and hip hop tunes to create mashups. He also infused reggaeton, R&B, pop, bhangra, Salsa and so on into his sounds.
At the early stage of his career, he began to upload his remixes on YouTube and Soundcloud and as at 2014, he was recognized for making country remixes.
He produced the official track of Bollywood film “Kapoor and Sons” for Sony Music India. He created numerous mashups which include Drake’s “Back to Back” and Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings”.
He came through with his official debut single “Young Shakrukh” in February 2020, which is a song he wrote and produced with a beat that sampled “Bole Chudiyan”, from the soundtrack of the Bollywood film, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”. The song went viral online and boast of over 20 million views and streams on YouTube and Spotify respectively.
He followed up with his second single “Yummy Jalebi” which is a remix to Justin Bieber’s “Yummy”. He released a version that removed “Yummy” and extended his verse to a full original song with his own English and Punjabi vocals. The song was titled “Jalebi Baby” and released on November 13, 2020. It went viral on the video sharing platform, Tik tok and also boast of over 100 million streams.
He got a record deal with Capitol records in partnership with Universal Music India, in 2021.
He released a remix of “Jalebi Baby” alongside the American singer and songwriter, Jason Derulo.
